Telugu Vande Bharat Save India Movie Review: Modi government implemented Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in India on the eve of Lok Sabha elections despite waiting for 4 years and strong opposition. Pakistan is the most upset about CAA. Despite the partition of the country in 1947 and the creation of Pakistan on the basis of religion, ‘anti-national elements’ have allegedly been active in India. Telugu film ‘Vande Bharat Save India’ raises this burning issue.

This action-drama film of about 2 hours and 12 minutes is in the news because it has been released at a time when general elections are going to be held in India, a big democratic country of the world, in 2024. ‘Communal polarization in society’ is being considered a big issue in this general election. Recently general elections were also held in the neighboring country Pakistan. In the elections there too, there were discussions about the working style of the Modi government.

In the last few years, many controversial and popular films have come out on the issue of ‘Jihad’ and ‘Hindu-Muslim’. Among these, ‘The Kashmir Files’ released in the year 2022 and ‘The Kerala Story’ released in the year 2023 are at the top of this list. Since these films were said to be based on real events, debates started about them in the country and the world. Many more films came after seeing these films, but they were not discussed as much.

Ever since the country’s independence from British rule and partition, Indian cinema has been making films on terrorism. But in the last few years, along with terrorism, ‘jihad’ and ‘Hindu-Muslim’ topics have also started being woven into filmmaking. ‘Vande Bharat Save India’ is an example of this. However, its making can be said to be limited to the ‘entertainment category’ only. In terms of story line, costing, dialogues, cinematography etc., this film has proved to be an ordinary one.

‘Vande Bharat Save India’ is a fusion of two titles, which appeal for patriotism and uniting India on the basis of caste and religion. Relations between India and Pakistan have not been good since the partition. India has always raised its voice against Pakistan, especially regarding Islamic terrorism. This film also shows an attempt to bring the youth on the right path who are on the path of terrorism.

Overall the film has turned out to be ordinary. The acting of the main actors of the film- Kaushik Mekala, Suman, Jenny, Sandhya Janak, Ankita Muller, Tarzan Laxmi etc. is just okay. Especially Suman seemed to dominate the other actors.

The film is directed by Mallam Ramesh. He has also produced it. The film lacks direction. As there is nothing new in the subject, it is not able to attract the audience. The issue of educated youth being brainwashed by terrorist organizations and pushed into jihad has been in the media headlines for the last few years. An attempt has been made to raise this in this film as well. However, it could not be that effective. The cinematography is also not that effective. South Indian cinema has a different style of stuntmanship, nothing like that was seen in this film.

The attempt to woo the audience by adding a tadka of comedy in a film based on a serious issue can be said to be successful to some extent. The background music of the film is also of the ordinary category. The song is definitely worth listening. More effort should have been put in the casting, so that the cinema could be made realistic. However, it did not seem so.

Hundreds of films have been made on issues like jihad or terrorism. Keeping the election season in mind, the filmmaker has tried to cash in on the public sentiment through Vande ‘Vande Bharat Save India’. Terrorism is also an important issue in general elections.

However, those who enjoy watching films based on issues like terrorism can watch it. However, those viewers who are interested in watching serious films on this subject may not like this film. It can be said that this film cannot be included in a special category.
